The first superstar of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna has passed away. He was 69. I grew up watching his movies. A romantic hero. May his soul rest in peace.
Bollywood lost many great stars in last one and half years.
Tuk hirs-o-hawa ko chhor mian, mat des bades phire mara,
Qazzaq ajal ka loote hai din raat, baja kar naqqara;
Kya bidhiya, bhainsa, bel, shutar, kya goien, palla, sarbhara,
Kya gehun, chawal, moth, matar, kya aag, dhuan, kya angara,
Sab thath para rah jawega jab laad chalega banjara.
Sahibey Takht Gaye Muflis O Mohtaaj Gaye…..
The one and only superstar of the bollywood movies.
15 hits on a trot, which still is a record today!
May God rest his soul in eternal peace!

It was schooldays of the 70s. The enemy had been vanquished in the 71 war. Songs from movies like Aradhana, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Bobby etc. would be blaring in loud speakers in nook and corner of TN, even though we understood not one bit.
If anyone was good looking, people used to say he looked like Rajesh Khanna (in TN).They could shoot an entire song sequence just with RK's face alone. Compare it with epilepsy of the Prabhu Deva type which people call 'dance'.
Commercialization or Globalization had not set in.Terrorism was unheard of and people felt safe.
