We are PRC holder, currently living in UAE and are planning to move to Canada in 10 months time from now.
We recently saw an orthodontist here in UAE to discuss a plan for my daughter's braces. The package would cost CAD 3,500. Initially we would pay 25% (i.e. CAD 875) and then CAD 130 every month when we visit the clinic for adjustment of the braces. In any case, the total cost would not exceed CAD 3,500. It may take 12 to 18 months to complete the process.
I would request the seniors living in Canada to advise me:
1. What is the cost in Canada for the whole package? The above cost is for Ceramic braces which is little costlier than the traditional metallic one.
2. If we get the braces fixed from UAE and after 10 months move to Canada, would an orthodontist in Canada agree to take care of the follow-up procedure?
3. If yes, then what would be the cost per visit?
I shall be obliged having your kind opinions on this.
Thanks and best regards,

I just got my daughter started on the treatment last week. The total cost would range from $5000 for $6000 for metal braces. For ceramic ones, it would entail an additional cost of around $300 to $500.
The treatment process is the same as you mentioned.

See above

I don't see why not as long as you pay them. One thing that may happen is that they may take out some fault with the braces fixed in UAE and advise on additional work, just to make some money.
3. If yes, then what would be the cost per visit?
No idea A wild guess would be around $100 / visit
Would your Ortho in UAE reduce their charges if you decide on coming here after the braces are fixed, which means you don't go back for the regular tightening and check-up.

Dear Sudesingh,
Thank you so much for the detailed reply which has been very helpful for me to make a final decision.
I therefore got the treatment started here in UAE. I had earlier explained to the Orthodontist about my moving plan. He promised to apply some concession on the quoted price of CAD 3,500 before I leave UAE.
However as per my understanding, even if no concession is applied, I will still save some amount of money. Today I made a down payment of CAD 800. For each monthly visit, I will be paying CAD 130 until I leave UAE in the 10th month i.e. CAD 130 X 10 = CAD 1,300. Adding this to down payment of CAD 800, the total comes to CAD 2,100. This will leave a balance of CAD 1,400 with me which will be more than enough to fund the follow-up visits in Canada.
Once again thank you for your valuable input.
Kind regards,
Can10
