What is the difference between pubs, bars and clubs?
Thanks.
AFAIK----
Bar = A place where alcoholic(mainly) drinks are served. Some places have pool tables, juke boxes, Karaoke and even live bands. Most watering holes in Toronto
Pub= Public House. British word for bar. You don't need a membership to join. Eg. Fox and The Fiddle.
Club(American)= Liquor is served, but mainly a social gathering spot usually with dance floor. Geared for younger hipsters. Lots of drug consumption. You will find them in Entertainment District of Toronto.
Club(British)= An exclusive gathering spot for members only. Generally more conservative and selective membership. Can get blackballed for inappropriate behavior. Usually strict dress code. Upper class English gentry or the brown-sahibs/military-folks in former colonies. Eg. Toronto Cricket and Curling Club.
Since I don't drink or dance, I avoid all the above.
