Hi there,

I am really happy with the all information have provided earlier on this sight.

I have one more question, my friend has put the file in April 2001 at Delhi. He got the file no and Letter like " Do not contact us as your application will take 3 to 3.5 years ...etc.." Before 3 month he got the papers to go for IELTS. His application was made under the old rule, so is it necessary for him to go for IELTS. He complited almost 3 years of applications. Can any body advised in this matter ?

Points on English language are there in both old or new rules , so it does not matter if it was old or new as far as language proof is concern.

if you have claimed points for language then you have to submit proof and you know IELTS if office proof for CIC.

Its always safe to take IELTS as you may not get full points for language with other proof.

You need very strong proof if you are not submitting IELTS. English medium study would not be enough as this is not your or his native language.

Buy IELTS kit from British library or IDP (Australian education centre). its worth buying kit with CDs.

take ielts. it's worth it. processing will be faster, high chance of interview waiver, no risk of zero point for language.
