Hi All - I filed my PR application from the US last year on 25th april and receieved my file number on 11th august. Since then the only communication that i have receieved was in feburary this year saying that my file has been transferred to L.A for further processing.

I wanted to ask if there is some way i could find out about the status of my application? whom should i contact for this?

There are several ways of checking status of your application -
1. Call CIC service at 1-888-242-2100
2. Fax the CHC office processing your case and provide the file#, your question and a return fax#.
3. Mail them a letter
4. Hire an immigration consultant or lawyer based in Canada to handle your case

Need help............

Had applied for skilled immigrant visa four to five years back and all this time the embassy site showed "Under Process"

Today when checking the status, it mentioned that necessary processing is complete for the file.

We had applied through an agent, who is now not contactable and has not been in touch with us w.r.t. our application.

Now how do we get to know the status and get the necessary update.

Any ideas????????????

you can call embassy, or best way to Fax your details , along with your question, ask them reply to you..

defintely they will get back to you immediately..... for me it worked.

Since you would have given authorisation to your agent to represent you, it is better to cancel that and deal your case directly.

What was the correspondence address provided in your application? Is it the agent's address or yours?

Try to get in touch with your agent again ASAP. If it doesn't work at all then it is better to cancel his/her authorisation.Write to the CHC where you applied explaining the situation. I think you have to do this real fast.

Also once again check your file status online - is it 'Processing is complete' or 'Decision made'?

nrifreed, is it possible for you to let me have the fax no / telephone no of the Indian Canadiam embassy. Or could you let me know how I could get the correct details from w.r.t. above mentioned.

Ash06, my application was through an agent and now that agent has closed his shop at Chennai, India, and there has been no communication from their Canadian office.

Asho06, you are right it was "decision made" and not "procesing complete".

Ash06, do let me know how we go about cancelling cancelling authorisation given to the agent and taking the case ourselves. Does it have any repurcussions?

Hi Gama,

You have to fill up the form 'USE OF A REPRESENTATIVE - FORM IMM 5476' (refer link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5476E.PDF ) to cancel the authorisation given to the agent. For change of address you have to contact CHC, New Delhi (refer link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/new-delhi.asp for details). All the information is available in CIC website. www cic gc ca.

It is difficult to say what would be the repercussion at this stage. In my opinion the first priority for you should be to find out the outcome by sending a written request by fax (explaining the circumstances).
