What is the harm in offering equity or partnership ? That should get you more enterprising developers. With no indication of returns only the extreme desperate will try to latch onto your hook - may not be the person you want.

But we want to avoid spending time finding a good team player - we just don't want lazy or laid back person - so we have to be strict in beginning to find someone serious.
as i said there are tons techy available as worker ... we are not interested in just employee .
NO PAIN NO GAIN . PERIOD ...

We have no doubt about your sincerity and helpfulness towards CD members.
But - telling some one un fixed wages , may not elicit better talent ...
If you could portray something like an average expected compensation for an year , it could help you get more and better response .... perhaps people who are salaried may also come over.

Good initiative BP. Couldn't this be done by someone on a part time basis (20 hrs a week) ? I am sure that will spike interest in many people. That way they dont have to leave their full time job.

Someone has to have interest first and willing to go step forward - all options can be considered based on person's dedication ...
again, this is not just small tiny web project , there are people willing to work for $5 to $8 hr online...
its basically for person who needs stepping stone to go further in business without investing CASH - but yes person has to be ready to sacrifice TIME - or else they should not even consider joining the group.
Either you have money or time - Money we don't need 
, time we don't have so we need someone who has passion and willing to risk time..
Do not look for fix wages or instant money - have to have passion

If a person is passionate and has skills why should he prefer this job instead of a salary ?
You have to provide some reasons for a person to be interested .. like may be partnership , growth in company , a very high hourly rate (when working) or something ...
