Hi,
I am a PR card holder and got an offer from US Based company and they will sponsor H1 visa. I want to know that if I went to US on H1, will my time count in Canada?
Is it a good decision to go to US on H1 with PR card?
Can I visit Canada after starting job in US on H1 and come to Canada after 1 year to apply for citizenship?
Thanks for your help.

u can still go to the US, i think 2 or 3 years out of the given 5 years right
Yah , but that would reset his citizenship years and he will have to start from scratch again

Hi Smiley,
Thanks for reply. Is there any way to maintain my residency in Canada while on H1 in US. You know, opportunities in US doesn't come everyday . Thats why, I was thinking not to loose it.
If I wait for my citizenship, then I have to wait for 1 year more and I don't know what will be the situation after 1 year.
Hi netb2b
I think if your US employer has a branch office in canada and you get an offer letter from the Canadian branch office saying that you are the employee of the Canada office going for work to the US then you can still maintain the days in Canada. Check the immigration site for this there is a detailed description of this
Hope this is usefull to you

Per new CIC rule emphasis is more on physical presence in Canada and that's why they removed RRP(return resident permit)
Even if your US employer have office in Canada and if you work in US still your residency might not be counted.Check CIC website to know more about this
Per CIC
If you are outside Canada for extended periods of time, you can accumulate residency days if you are
(1)travelling with a Canadian spouse or common-law partner, or are a child accompanying a parent, or
(2)employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or the Public Service of Canada, or
(3)the spouse, common-law partner or child of a permanent resident who is outside Canada and who is employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or the Public Service of Canada.
If none of the cases apply to you only way you can keep your days counted is staying near USA/Canadian border and commute to work everyday.Of course this is possible if your project location is close to the border
Thanks
