It is really a story someone should can take inspiration from but in actual situation this type of thing happens once in thousands. May be I would like to write a story like this 10-15 years later if everything goes fine.
Two things i would like to bring out, one is why do we always tend to look for a negative side of even a POSITIVE situation which gives out hope - and mind you we go out of the way to look for the BAD rather than make an effort towards the GOOD.
For a simple example there was the article " i am not coming to Canada" and there was another article like " Is it suicidal for a marketing engineer to come to Canada" - the headings of these posts convey "negativity..caution.....danger...."which is all acceptable to people especially us Indians who like a bit of masala with the curry - and just see how many views these articles have got. OVER 5000 ! And there will be not many contesting these views either - but if someone brings out something positive there are so many people to throw "wisdom" , "practical aspects", "get real dude....these things dont happen in real life", " ha ha be real !" on the mere suggestion that something good is also possible in this world.
Thats more like going out looking for the deep dark tunnel even if something positive is being shown in your face.
Second is why do we need to call it a "story", its a man's life which he chose to lead. As regards makinga section "Anubhav" well, is this gentleman to be considered successful because he got to be a doctor after immigrating ? Has there always got to be the "attainment" of a position or material possession at the end of the "story" typical to our society here - look he became a doctor or see hes an engineer. Why is it so.
Why cant success be a grandmother learning to use her own ATM card ? why cant sucess be immigrating to another country ? why cant sucess be taking the family on a trip abroad before retiring ?
why cant success be a pilot diagnosed with heart problems by the medical board going to USA and taking sky diving lessons and becoming a sky diving instructor (one of the most stressful activity for the heart) at 52 years of age - he was not contented with that he made a video film of his dives and came back to India, appealed against the medical decision showing his diving accredition and video film - and being finally being granted his flying license back, is he not sucessful?
What would be the criteria of this "Anubhav" section be for allowing postings in that section- would be interesting to note. I guess ones outside the Anubhav section would be the "Bewakoof section"
Why does life have to be after all be divided into success and failures. And if at all it is to be so - it is for each one of us to decide whether we were successful or not. My success may be someones failure and vice versa.
For all you know the gentleman may be on his way to being a fellow of arts at UCLA - would you consider him less "successful" since he would not be a doctor but a mere Arts fellow.
Why not consider his wife - why cant she considered "successful" at learning to drive a car and having her own license ?
The thing which the gentleman did in the "story" is uncommon for us indians because of the "haye budhape ne maara" "hai Ram buddhe ko dekho sathiya gaya hai buddhape mein" simply because we dont dare to take the plunge ourselves -we will prefer to stand at the edge and scream "abey marega" to the people getting ready to take the leap so that either he does not leap and even if he does he would be doing so with 1 million doubts in his mind - but its not so in the developed countries and it is slowly catching up in India too - though with much giggling and many sniggles behind the person's back. There was an article in the newspapers some time back about a lady doing her bachelors at 98. yeah it was was not from India.......YET.
The fact that this gentleman did what he did ..in the US of A should speak volumes for that place & its people. And yes ...applaud we must the gentleman as well as his wife for being supportive (not saying "aeyji kya pagalpan kar rahe ho budhape mein"
Regards
