Dear Massoodji,
PPs of my family are with the CHC for the last 7 months. Meanwhile they asked me submit fresh PCCs.I think delay is to do backckground checks. Does CHC require PPs for this purpose . Why does CHC keep passports for such long time for processing . Why can't they keep photocopy and return the passport if it is needed for reference. Does any request for passport for my travel, delay the process at CHC.

They keep passports under the assumption that most people applying to immigrate have no plans to travel. This is grossly incorrect and I have been remionding them (for all my clients) that their attitude is arrogant and often the assumption is discriminatory.

If you need your passport(s), they'll have to return thme to you. Even some embassies have expressed their unhappiness for keeping passports for so long and having to courier back at extra expense to the Canadian government.
