Today i recieved a call from immigration & citizenship office asking whether my in-laws (for whom i filed papers for sponsorship in Dec2002)were affected by tsunami. I got this call when i was very busy in office and i was pretty much unprepared and told them \"no\" and it did not even srtike me to ask why they are asking this question- though i am sure they are asking this to expedite the cases where sponsored persons are affected by tsunami. I am posting this so that any of you who might get calls now can ask some questions and post on this forum for the benefit of others

Is it right to say yes when family is not effected to get family members fast to Canada?
I feel incase of parents. Yes it is correct because CIC has unjustified time frame. But then we may be taking away opportunity from a effected person in line.

What happens if they ask for proof?
What will someone do then?
If it is found out that you lied to CHC, they can be very vindictive and cancel the application altogether - who knows.
Then the onus is upto you to appeal the case, ask an MP for help and so on.
Not worth the risk.

Hi,

I think it was better that you told them the truth. No point faking or lying.
