How do I get back to Canada?

I landed in Canada 5 days back. I havent got my PR card. Now I need to go outside Canada for Interview. The immigration officer at airport told me I have to get a visa outside Canada in order to come back. She even said even with my Australian passport ( which allows visa free travel) I have to get visa because I am landed immigrant?

Now going out of Canada is difficult? If you are out then I have to find a conuslate to get a visa to come back. I dont know what kind of visa will be issued.

Can anybody explain or give any other suggestions how to get back?
