This one is for ani70.

What are the prospects for a CPA with SAP FI/CO qualifications. What sort of salaries can one look foward to in Toornto?.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hi indione
If you have CPA with SAP FI/CO implementation experience in North America you should start from 90K +
Rememeber there is a shortage of SAP CO consultant in the market so you should be able to make a good deal.
Accenture is recruiting lot of SAP guys nowadays and offering salary inthe range of 80K-130k
Though this one is a old posting still might be interesting for you

It nice to see people giving their brief background and what presently they are doing in IT.

This message is for Ani70 and sudesigh.

Just wanted to know what should be my strategy to try to get into Oracle Financials. I have 7 + years of IT experience in different ERP's though for last two year i am working on Oracle Financials fucntional. Good in GL, AP, AR, Fa, to some extent Project accounting etc....

I have done engineering, mgmt and CFA.

Though my first preference will be to get in ERP, if not than the contingency plan ( 2nd option) would be to try to get in Accounts line as Accounts analysts or similar area since i know accounting modules mentioned above.

Would request Ani70 and SS to give some sort of insight as to how I should go ahead. Any other guys who has similar ERP experience functional but not working on ERP may also give some insight. I will be reaching Canada on 16th April 05.

Thanks

Sharma

Any additional study done to get good IT job in Canada: None (Initially, I happened to teach E-Commerce Software Development program and some other continued education programs, before I could get the present job)

My 2 cents...

What I have found that using an agent (head hunter, as we call then in Canada), is probably the best way to get a good break. Since you'll be a new comer (shortly), I'd suggest attending a 2-3 day orientation for new comers. They are govt. sponsored, so you don't pay (except for your time). They teach you how to reformat your resume, and give you tips on how to go about - job searching.

The other way to get a break is thru networking. A lot of vacancies are filled in thru the back door. For eg. If I know of a vacancy at work & I know a prospective candidate, I pass his resume & chances are he/she will get the job, provided they have the skills.

On another note, I'd suggest someone compile this info into a document and post it up here. Suggestions, volunteers....

okay, I see this thread evolving in another direction too, where this thread has potential to serve the puporse of networking, as well as readymade resource for potential employers (hope they visit CD too) :)

So as per Sudesingh's msg, I am just trying to make a template kind of thing, so that newcomers can keep on updating their info in that format. Oldies are welcome to update their info anyway

Towards this, here is the evolving template:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Education:
IT Experience:
Business Domain:
Technology Domain:
Area of Specialization:
Current Employer:
Did you study further in Canada to get a job:
Your perception of IT career growth in Canada:
To get a job in Canada, what matters the most:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sude, what do you think about above template? Any input from learned members on this forum are welcomed
