Hi,

At the outset, this forum is very informative and helpful.

Interested in buying a 2 bed, 2 bath detached house (preferably) or a condo close to Dixie road & Bloor street junction - surrounding area.

Help/ Suggestions/ Advice - welcome !
Thanks.

We'll be landing in August 2005.

My 2 cents... Survey the area before you decide on buying - just for your comfort level (not that the area is bad). If you've done that than ignore my message.

Thank you for the suggestion Sudesingh.
Yes, we have been to that area before but hadn't done a thorough survey though.
The idea is to stay in between Miss.. and downtown. I guess this'll make it easier for me or/ and the spouse to travel in either direction depending on where we get employed.

However, I'll bear your suggestion in mind & give it a serious thought.

Thanks.

It is always a wonderful exprience to live in your own home, real estate is a great investment in Canada and the economy is booming. Your home is one of the biggest investment, and buying a house without proper planning is NOT recommended.
You need to figure out your goals first, priortise yourself in terms of children's schools, a job that will pay out your monthly mortgage and select an area based upon school, your place of work, distance to amenties, neighbourhood etc.
I would strongly recommend that a first time home buyer should visit a local and a reputed real estate office and attend a home buyer seminar, get apprised with home buying process, various costs of buying a home, mortgages etc.
Feel free to explore the below seen website and read more about home buying process and you are welcome to attend a home buyer interview at my office.

Sorry to butt in, but couldn't help asking.

You have not yet landed.

You do not have a job yet.

You do not even know where you/spouse will eventually work.

You want to buy a house???

Valid point :D
PR in 2003.
BTW, how's Peel board compared to TDSB ? I know it's the wrong place to ask but house buying/ leasing primarily depends on areas with good schools - regardless of distance to workplace or TTC !
