I couldn't resist the temptation to add my 2 cents into this thread.

I'm not taking any sides in this matter. But the only thing which comes to my mind is that, what is happening here is something similar to what Bush has done in Iraq. They went after WMD, they started a war. Bush declared mission accomplished from a Naval Carrier. But as the whole world knows guerilla war fare continues and every day 30 people are killed in Iraq. The problem has not been solved but has been energized and legitamized. It is a typical Gringo mentality to react to a situation.

The best method to deal in a situation similar to this can be learnt from our Indian Master and my favorite politician Mr.P.V.Narasimha Rao. He was one of the few prime minister to last a full term, initiated the economic liberalization of India, which everyone else is taking credit for.

He never reacted to situation, never exposed his emotions or moods. He had a glum face, but a very active mind. His solution to any problem is not react to the same. He always found that a bigger problem arose to make the one previous one to look insignificant. Before his death all the cases in which he was implicated was absolved and he died a very dignified death.

Stopping my diversion and coming back to the point, I have been to 3 dinner parties in the last 10 days with fellow desis, and in everyone of these parties Prabhuji and his postings in CD have come for discussion. The way CD handled that has also come in for discussion. I found that people of ages 35+ with children supported CD, while younger people that is in the age range of 20 to 27 have found a hero in Prabhuji. They think it is cool to become Trolls in website and take potshots or sniper attacks.

Just like Iraq, I think the battle has been won, but the war has started where in we will find more and more trolls with various ID's taking their pot shots.

Ignorance is bliss !

To my fellow Desi's:

The lesson I've learnt after all this is that, If this posting is not something which meets your view point please ignore this, and please spend your valuable time in bettering your CV or sending one more of it to another potential employer, than responding to my point of view, which might not match yours.

Yes I'll be doing the same.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Whether 20 to 27 or 35+, can you tell me what exactly did you you find "heroic" in prabhub's posts? He was posting at a rate that perhaps beat the combined speed of 20 posters. Is that "heroic"?

What suggestions did he have that were helpful or unique? Eating at food banks, and scrounging for easy doles - do these suggestions appeal to the younger crowd as "heroic".

I am not saying that banning him was right or wrong. That's is the decision of moderators and his absence does not bother me and so I don't really care.

He was certainly not doing anyone any service here though.

Not cool, it is highly immature. Being bent on wickedness and mischief is not cool!

Sorry those are not the rules. You cannot post something and expect only those who suck up to you. If you do not like reponses that do not support your view, feel free to ignore them.

What if I don't have one and I don't need one?

Does that make me eligible to post my message here even though it does not agree with your's? :D

Also, I think we need to differentiate between "troll" and "sock". The former, AFAIK, is someone who posts only to provoke others with the intention of wasting their time and energy. Sock puppet OTOH is the case when the same person tries to post with more than one ID.

Troll. The vet. question was pretty much designed to waste someone's time and energy, this guy is no 65 year old vet. C'mon, read his posts...does he sound like a 65 year old who's been here for 2 months?

No I can never be absolutely sure. Even when IPs match. Operating in the dark world of the net, you just have to make some judgements. And frankly, the posts don't leave much need for rocket science...

You only have to wonder at the intentions of people like these. Beats me, cause I can think of much better ways of wasting my time!

Errr..umm...True, but the United states has been the most powerful country in the world for over a century now. And although India has made great strides lately, you have to admit that we don't even have a quarter of the clout the China has. And China didn't get to where it is by keeping a glum face and doing nothing.

First of all, I wasn't aware Cdesi is THAT popular. Regardless, the 20-27 year olds will eventually grow up.

That's a pretty heavy analogy. Please don't take this stuff so seriously.
