Some manufacturers offer lower APRs on financing than banks but is it possible for people who have newly landed in Canada (assuming they have a job) to get these offers?
Does it help to have a US credit history?
It is generally difficult for newly landed people to get good APR's and interest rates or even credit as such but since the automobile industry is going through a big recession they might just get it . I guess all they need is a good job and US credit history just might work too ..
PS: In life we do not get what we deserve but what we negotiate ..

I did get a car loan before I had a credit history in Canada, no sweat, but I had to put up a sizeable down payment.
While manufacturers APRs are low, you may be able to get a good ‘cash’ discount if you arrange for financing on your own.
I guess that's one area where a recession will help us then
If you are buying a car wch is either brand new or not older than 7 years, and assuming that you do not have any credit history in Canada, you can still get a loan easily as the car can be taken as a security. Mfr APR are always good but for shorter tenure of the loan. If you can afford higher monthly payts, go for Mfr APR. Else as suggested by crenshaw, arrange the loan from your bank and try to get a good cash disc. from car dealer.
take care.

Thanks...that's good to hear. I was wondering if we'd have to wait a year at least to build up credit.
Of course, this all depends on my landing a job where I can even buy a car
Once you have a good stable job in these countries (US/Canada) life becomes easier and the credit build up is automatic . Just give it time and you should be fine ..
People who do not have credit cards have a problem and who do also have a problem (well paying them )
So relax and give it time
