I talked to my buddy from India after many years and we exchanged email addresses on the phone. I mentioned to him to setup his Instant mesenger account in Yahoo or MSN so that we could chat , but he expressed no knowledge of how to do it.

I was very surprised since he is a CA and only 30 to 35 years old. India is the IT hub of the world ?

Being a CA and/or being 30 to 35 is no criteria of knowing or not knowing about MSN or yahoo chat. It could be just your friend who is not tech savy.

India being the IT hub does not mean that "IT" is flowing thru the air and everyione is expected to breathe it.

We have a friend who's in the medical field and he's the same as your friend, I could say almost ignorant of the tech wave. For him even sending an email is like a big thing.

OTOH I have quite a few friends n family who at one time were non tech savy and even today are to a certain extent but atleast they have a computer at home, know how to use it, we exchange emails and chat regularly.

I had a supervisor in Dubai who did not know how to send an email, inspite of the training. he will only open the mail and read.

Place has nothing to do it's the initiative. I myself didn't know so many new things earlier like sharing photos in the web etc
