Hello people, I need some recommendations on where do my safety from my car imported from the US.
I have got my emission passed, now I need to do safety... I live in the Hamilton area, i am ready to drive around 100 KMS to get my safety done.
Can anyone please guide me where to go. Some people have recommended me to look around and keep Canadian Tire as the last option.
Any input is welcome thanks,
Raj
You don't have to drive 100kms to do the inspection which costs about $50. Just search in http://www.driveclean.com/ for the nearest inspection center and call up a couple of them to inquire about charges .

Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.

I think we are all talking differnt things here.
When you import a vehicle from the US there are 3 inspections you need to do before you can get your vehicle registered. I just went through the process last month so I can say with authority.
Steps involved
1) Emission(I paid $35.00)
I've already provided the link
2)Safety Inspection(state/regional)(I paid($50.00)
Most of the emission test centers do it just check with them before going.
3) Vehicle compliance inspection(kind of federal) (paid $0.00)
free in any inspection center including canadian tyre. They charge only if they make repairs. Then you can always get it repaired at the mechanic of your choice & bring it back for inspection. And you probably know by know what are all required for your vehicle to pass the inspection from the RIV web site like daytime running lights for example.
4)Vehicle Insurance
shop around
5)Driving License
You can exchange the US license for canadian
