Hi All
I have done a research on the board and could not find much info on the topic.
I have my G2 Lic and was wondering over the benefits of getting G.
I checked the online quotes and Car insurance is same irrespective of the Lic class.

Car Rental companies dont care for the licence class.
I am currently 23 years and 3 months and a car is out of question for me till my 25th birthday because of high premieum.
I dont drink so alcohol level is not in question.
renewal of licence is 5 yrs away so don`t need to worry about it.
Please evaluate the situation and advice accordingly.

Sucess is not an accident it is a result of hardwork with intelligence.
For a lot of High end cars and I think SUV's as well they ask for G.
I was refused a Mustang coz I did not have a G license some time back.
Some jobs where extensive travel is required a G license is asked for.
If I were you I would get a G license just to build up on the years of being an experienced G driver. Would make insurance a little less when you buy a car.

Sorry, but some of your facts are mis-stated.
Renewal is 5 years for a G licence, but with a G2, you have to re-appear for the test every 5 years.
As regards renting a car, there are some rental agencies which refuse to rent you a car on a G2 licence. I've experienced that.
Get a verbal quote from any insurance co. (not an online quote). With a G licence your insurance premium drops by around 5 to 10%
Agreed that you don't drink alcohol, but the fact still remains that you are not allowed to have any alcohol on a G2 licence.
For someone with a G1 licence to drive, a G licence holder has to be sitting besides the driver (G1 holder). This again may not apply to you, but for people with teens who are just learning to drive, the teen can drive on a G1 licence provided the parent is a G holder and sitting besides.
