MassoodJi,
I am thinking about applying for Canadian PR soon.
What do you think about my chances of getting approved for Canadian PR? Or Am I wasting my money in application fees?
Here are some info about me and my family:
BS and MA from a university in the US.
1 year full-time work experience and 5 years part-time work experience in IT field (in US on-campus job). Salary was not good, started at $9.10 per hour and at the end it was $15.45 per hour. Starting a new job (Business Analyst) with a Desi firm starting January and will be getting H1B, hopefully.
Basic knowledge of French language
Married and spouse has a BA in Accounting from a university in South East Asia.
4 months old baby who was born in the US
I really appreciate your time and suggestions.
Your target is 67 points. Take your language tests and I will advise you after that. Without language test [zero for language] your score is 54. I have not counted your part-time work [unless you p/t work was 37.5 hrs per week & paid]

Thanks Massood Ji,
I will take IELTS soon and let you know how I did. I hope I will be able to score the minimum required by CIC to get 16 points.
I also have two years of full-time work experience as a Front Desk Manager in a one-star hotel back home. I think I worked there from Oct 1995 to Nov 1997 (do not remember exact month I started, but I was there for more than 2 years). The duties of this job fall under NOC code #0623. If I could get a letter from my boss, can I use this experience too? I will not have anything to show (do not have pay stub and tax return) other than a letter saying I worked there from this date to that date as a Front Desk Manager.
Thanks for your time.
You will probably be loosing 1/2 months of working experience by the time you apply for immigration, lets say that if you start you application this year itself.
//QUOTE// from CIC website
You do not meet the minimum requirements if:
none of your work experience is listed in the NOC list;
your experience did not occur in the 10 years before you applied; or

Check this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/qual-2.html
Try the online test also http://www.cic.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK, if you want to evaluate you chances but Massood has already done that for you ( and you can always rely on his evaluation).
You will probably be getting another 4points for Working experience in your home country if you start your application straight away.
You will be needing around 10/16 points from IELTS in order to secure those 67 points but I'm sure that you will get much more than 10points.
Ciao,
Asif
Thanks ka_yamba for giving me some hope for my work experience from back home and for IELTS score.
