THE debate over Indian professionals taking over overseas jobs may lose some steam with indications of more and more foreign professionals seeking greener pastures in India.
It is learnt that a small, but growing number of senior foreign executives from Europe and South East Asia are putting their resumes in the headhunter basket for job opportunities beyond IT and BPO, in sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, and logistics. \"In the last six months, we have received close to 500-600 CVs from people who are seeking openings in India. Of this, about 150 are from professionals from Italy, Spain and France, and a chunk from second and third generation Indians and expatriate Indians,\" Ms Shailja Dutt, Managing Director of Steller Search and Selection Ltd, said.
According to her two to three such resumes come in every day from people keen on being employed here despite the fact that it could lead to shrunken pay packets.
\"Even students from business schools across the world are evincing an interest in taking internships with multinationals and domestic companies in India in order to have an experience of a fast developing market,\" she pointed out.
Interestingly, the attention being generated regarding India is in the same sectors in which the country is witnessing a boom. According to an analyst, there is a need for top-level professionals in areas such as cutting edge Research and Development (R and D) and scientific work. Hence companies in India are looking to fill this vacuum with foreign experts.
\"One attends conferences where India and China success stories are narrated. When people see India, they see its economic growth, rising salaries and rising exports. Hence a lot of foreign professionals are now making a beeline to become a part of the boom,\" said Mr Ravi Bhatia, Managing Director of Gilbert Tweed, which handles senior level placements.
According to him, the popular sectors with job hunters are BPOs, hospitality, aviation, and logistics. \"Our Delhi office itself has been receiving 10-12 resumes from senior level professionals overseas who want to work in India. Many of them are Americans who have already worked in South East Asia and hence are well versed with the Asian culture,\" Mr Bhatia said.
The European nationals queuing up at the search firms are more inclined to work in high-scale design centres, he noted. \"People from Italy and Germany are looking at senior management positions in India in this space,\" he said, adding that many aspirants came with a project management portfolio.
Very Interesting. These french, germans, italians never give equal jobs to people who can't speak their own language. now it's India's turn. These guys should be told none of their educational qualifications or work expereince will be recognised (Canadian style!) and that they have to start from the lowest level in the company. Also they need to know hindi to get employed.
Sadly, India doesn't have any self respect. These idiots will be welcomed and given 5 star treatment with more perks then Indians professionals. When i see all these happening it really makes me SICK!
Not for long. As India globalises, everyone will have to pull his weight. Expatriates not barred.

Right on. We have \"white man is my master\" mentality. This wont go away easily. We r ready to fall at the feet of whites (even though they are not educated) and discard our own talented bunch. That's why we are still lagging behind.

Those were days in the past (white man is my master mentality). I don't think many asians feel that way in a globalized economy.
Asians are the fastest growing race in the world. Asian Americans have highest per capita income in the USA (I wonder how it is for Asian Canadians).
Research in USA proved that Asians have the highest IQ in the world.

It's funny how u spin the words. Globalized economy? What that has got to do with the individual attitude?
I am talking only abt desis. So dont bring other Asians into picture. Note that Asian Americans consists of others too apart from India. FYI, Japan is in Asia.
Having highest IQ has nothing to do with white man is my master mentality. It's the atittude Asians need to let go. I dont know if u observe desis or not. Lots of them behave different when they r with whites but suddenty change when they are with fellwo desis.

Globalized economy is helping India as more and more jobs move to India. The fast growing economy in India is winning respect from G-8 countries. If you have noticed, in the last few years, it has become norm for G-8 countries to involve China and India in important discussions.
India is now has an economy that every one in the world is noticing.
Indian Amricans have one of the highest average per capita income in the united states (I think it is third highest)
Well, from an individual stand point globalization helps because, we have the opportunity to chase our job back to India if it goes to India but not the White guy!!
