Here in Bangalore CGI is not very well known, i.e., it does not have the profile of companies such as Infosys, IBM, Accenture etc. So purely from an Indian perspective I do not see the big deal in getting a job from CGI.
That being said, as someone mentioned above, if the aim is to relocate to another office then it would be something to consider. Of course it depends on whether CGI allows inter office transfers, especially from India.
I know that is is not easy to transfer from Accenture's outsourced development arm (not consulting division) to other offices abroad.
It is a good company from what I know. A friend of mine joined CGI (it was called something else in India then) right after graduation and has been with the same company for 9 years since. He was initially in Bangalore and then went to the US and has also travelled to Toronto and Montreal before returning to, and settling in the US. I believe they are doing a lot of hiring in Canada as well.
