I live in the US, got the PP stamped. i want to visit my home country for 1 month .
which is better :
1- Go to my country first then land after one month
2- Land and stay for one day and give my Friend's address for the PR card and ask him to mail the card to me (am i risking re-entering Canada if i do this ? i hear that some people don't get the card and were called to go in person for the PR card)
it depends on how much time you have to do your landing. if you have enough time then go home and then come back to do your landing. you will need your PR card to reenter canada. They make it very clear that you need that. Why risk somthing you have work so hard to get? what if somthing happens and you are called to retake your photos( i think somone is having the same problem coz she went back to India to get married and dindt wait for her PR). Its just 4 weeks wait for the PR. Personally , i wish they would hand it right at the airport when they take the photos like they do the drivers liciences here. but I think these are special cards with water marks etc , just like passports that need to be done with a special machine. and they must be doing it in acentral plpace. there are soo many ppl who write with the same questin. but relly we have all worked so hard and waited so long to get here and this is just another process to finish our journey to our new home why not be a little more patient and finish it smoothly? dont you think so?
so go home , have a good holiday and then come here to make your life.
best of luck
I thought i can always get a travel document if i miss the PR card for any reason, is that true?

I would like to know how travel docs work. coz i thouht the PR was our travel doc. i wonder how long itll take to get them concidering you want to leave the very next day of landing. some time back somone had written that they were refused landing coz the immigration officer thought that they had simply come to do the landing and were going to leave and continue to work in the states. i think they drove to the border and had no luggage with them. they planned the same thing as you are saying. they wnated to pack up at easse later in the year and move.
