As far as I know you cannot avoid US immigration booth even if you make an U turn. Canadian immigration is located on Canadian soil. Once you are on Canadian soil usually you have to go through US immigration to set foot on US territory.

2. What is your country of citizenship

These are important factors that determine what you can, or cannot, do.
Visa and status are completely different things - it is possible that you may not have a valid visa for entry into the US, but you may still be in valid status, or vice versa - completely different things.

The Canadian post is *after* the US post, so you will need to exit the US, complete your Canadian entry and then turn back.
