FYI, they are my wife's collegues.
If these guys are not decent enough , who then can be in Canada?
Would the higly qualified professional from Desi Land working as a labourer for $8 be more decent?
From my experience, The richer the guy is the more silly and cheap he is, and the more educated his father/parents and himself, the more decent.

Fortunately...this is only your own generalization and perception.

One of the individuals who came to that party, 2 years back, came to Canada without his wife. When he returned to India on Vacation a year later, he made claims that he will take his wife to Singapore for vacation. He went to india and ended up taking his wife to Ooty for vacation.

Does this prove an individual is cheap? Does it mean he is boastful? Or does it mean he may have some financial difficulties all of a sudden?

Can one even JUDGE this situation?

saw the observations of TK abt his room mates. just wondering why you stayed with them for 2 years? tht means apart from all those stingy nature you liked so many other qualities tht they have. Never knew tamils are so difficult. i have closely interacted with them and like them a lot. they always have a smile on their face and tht language has a musical harmony.

hi,
None of the bad guys were tamils (though some tamils are bad). They were from Gulti land (Andhra predesh). I also had a tamil roommate and he was a gem (along with the bad guys).
I was new to Canada and put up with their stinginess for a month. After that i started eating outside and spending more time outside rather than inside. Therewas on individual who exploited us max. (and he knows it) but b'cos the other 2 of my roommates did not want to chase him out (due to rent), i held back against him.
We did not stay 2 years with him. We stayed a year.

I see that you amended your post, and added "people from Andhra Pradesh".

So those guys are bad :h Pray shed some light why so....anything to do with their culture?

One of these "bad guys" as you say "exploited you to the maximum" - i hope everythings ok

Also, a question about the guys who shocked you so appropriately when they came to a kid's bday party without any gift- what culture are they from?

I must say, i find these posts about culture and cultural stuff you have brought out on this and other threads so revelating....i can hardly wait for more

I have found that many desi's are very stingy here. I donot know exactly why.
I lived for 2 years in Canada with 3 Desi's in my home. What they demanded from me was :

Needless to say, 2 of the stingiest desi's that i had been with are doing very well. They have their own furniture/ Car now and when i go to their homes they give me food without asking me any money.

TK

Continuing, i would guess from your post that these two "stingiest" desis who give you food without asking for money, are the same ones whom you detested staying with for one or two year(s)?

So these "stingy" desis are also "Gulti" (as you call them)?? Right? If so, then do you still call them "bad" people or are they now termed as "good" people for not asking for money when they give you food??

Why do you think they have had such a change of heart? Is it because they feel that they have exploited you enough?:h

Do other people who "give you food", ask for money? What culture are those guys from?

Man, theres simply so much to learn about this cultural stuff. Your posts are a learning expereince for most of us here. Thanks for sharing all this with us.
