Dear Desi Friends:
One of my relative got a problem.
He was a student in a private college in Toronto. He finished his program in Dec 2007 and moved to Alberta to find some work at a desi store. Later he got an HRDC approved LMO / Offer from a company in Toronto and applied for a Work Permit.
Work Permit was delayed and later he got a refusal letter from CIC local office stating that his original reason for coming to Canada is fulfilled and he has to go immediately. They even enclosed a Confirmation of Voluntary Departure form. Currently he is out of status. Some thing prompted CIC for this action which I don’t know but I guess CIC got suspicion that he is working illegally as he sent a bank letter from Alberta with his application for Work Permit.
I want to help this young guy and please advise me the different options available.
This is totally a legal matter. He needs to consult a LAWYER, in good standing and PAY the legal fees he will ask. Success rate, very minimal. But who am I? The lawyer will determine and tell if he will take such a case. Then you can see how you can help him with the required finances. Your help to him is really an honorable gesture.
I cannot evaluate the case without all of the information and this is not the board where one would like to air this matter, since the lawyer is the ONLY one who can handle it and resolve it, he will need all of the privacy that he would need, and should be the FIRST one, to know all of the details and not anyone else.
Not knowing where your young relative is, I would suggest that he get in touch with him the first thing tomorrow. First consultation for the first twenty minutes is FREE. Then the clock starts to tick.
There is a Very Good Lawyer who is attached to the CD website and you can see his ADs in the Immigration section.
Good Luck.
Freddie.

I second ftfl's comments on this and the recommendation.
