I have been reading all the sad stories and bad experiences of desi immigrants(India/Pakistan/Srilanka) who have come here for a better life for themselves and their children. It is not uncommon to see educated and professionally qualified desis working at minimum wage jobs or driving cabs.
What I would like to know is the situation of immigrants from other countries? I can understand that South East Asia is perhapsthe source of the majority of immgrants, but I am sure it is not the ONLY source. As I understand, China is another major source of immgrants to Canada. I have seen many immigrants from Russia, Poland, Korea etc. Comparatively speaking, I can safely say that desis have a substantial edge over people from these countries simply on account of language. The question is - are they also in the same boat as our folks? Are their qualified engineers and doctors also working at labour jobs and driving cabs? I haven't seen many, but would like to know. And if they are being successful than what is it that is different wth them? What do they do? Where do they go? Where and how do they get work?
Any ideas...

read it carefully:

when i call the anglos the "lymi*es" that means they discriminate people based on their skin colors.

euro trash will get better preference over south asians and black

their 1st (and for sure the 2nd generation is completey) integrated in to lymi*e group.

the chinese will also have a better treatment over south asians.

desis just fall in with the "black catagory".

now you have a good justification to dislike these red*coats

From my experiences(based on those I know personally) these first generation immigrants are mostly in the same boat if they are recent arrivals(past 8-10 yrs).

AND...

A Russian coworker, who works as a programmer now, told me he struggled for 3 years with jobs at gas stations and departmental stores before getting a break.

An Iraqi co-worker has an almost identical story.

An extremely intelligent Canadian born and brought up black coworker (28) who makes a measly salary of 15 bucks an hour even though its plain to see he deserves more.

Racism does exist but beware of hate-preaching know-it-alls who find it an easy excuse for their personal issues.
