I had come to Canada for studying 1 year program from Community College. I studied well and got good grades and scholarship too but I could not find a job in my field after graduation. So I came back to India and left the open work permit as it is.

Now, I have got admission in Michener Institute, (very difficult to get admission). It is a 2 year post grad diploma program with very good employability chances.

My question is: Will I be able to get post grad work permit after completion of this new program? Because, I have already got work permit once, is it possible to get it again if I come to study again?

Please answer this question. It is very important to make a decision.

You will not get Post grad work permit again. You are eligible only once.

You need to get a positive labor market opinion (LMO) to get a work permit next time. You may explore PG programs with co-op in provinces like Saskatchewan so that you may be able to qualify for PR under Provincial Nominee Program.

Do you still have valid work permit?

@ gurram: yes you are right that work permit is issued only once...

bt i have not stayed back in canada so far..i gave up my previous open work permit after using it only for 2 months and came back to india....

i m not asking them to renew it by staying in canada only....i have come back and now i m going back as a new student again...so all rules will apply to me again...i wont get off campus work permit for 6 months..will get a new SIN number....so thats why i thought may be there are chances i will get work permit after grad also...

i do not know what it is going to be like...bcos i m getting YES and NO both as answers from everywhere..so its for sure a big confusion...pls share any insight if u have

They do not care whether you have stayed in Canada or not. They do not care whether you have used the previous work permit or not. Post grad work permit is a different category of work permit and you will be issued only once in your life time as per the existing rules. There is no confusion here.

Renewal of post graduate work permit is easy compared to other work permits through LMO. When they renew a post grad work permit ... it is no more called as post grad work permit. It will be called as Work Permit.

I am coming to study ultrasound at michener institute...this program widely recognized and required in the industry...typically there are employers ready to hire michener graduates...

will it be possible for me to get a job given the fact that the employers will be knowing that I do not have post grad open work permit...i mean will they be willing to go for LMO for me...or it becomes difficult to get the jobs despite your qualification being in demand...

will be glad to have some insights on this...
