Immigrants cannot get OSAP until they spend 12 months in Canada. So where do they get the money for masters?

Then they better stay back in India.

Good comeback.

Thunderdesi: can an immigrant in Ontario apply for a bank loan for education or are there any immigrant serving agencies that can provide limited loans?

There are actually two types of loans:
OSAP - where govt. is the guarantor for your loan. Interest has to be paid 6 months after you graduate
Education Loan from a Bank - this is a private loan based on your credit history/if some other Canadian resident or citizen can stand as a guarantor then it is based on the guarantor's credit history. Interest is to paid every three months from the day the loan is sanctioned.

Either way new immigrants will not get a loan as far as I know.

Where there is a will there is a way. Friend’s hard work gives result. Many people silently achieving their goal. Please take good examples and advise, do not waste your time in reading a negative post. I can give many examples, but to limit I am giving two example.

1 X is my friend worked for a year in odd jobs, continued the same but started studies. -His time is been spent as follows.

7-12 am College
1-3 pm volunteer work
3pm-12 mid night factory work
12-7 family time

Now he is in Government Job.

2, Y, his wife has done odd job for a year, he used that time for his education, now they are happy.

Yes I could not do so, but I am very happy with my minimum earning.

I Can say that the facility like company car, driver, Five star accommodation on travel etc has not given me the joy what I am having now by doing factory Job.

PLEASE DO NOT DISCURAGE ANY ONE. I WISH TO INFORM YOU IN MY 16 MONTHS STAY CANADA I COULD ADVICE AND GUID 3 SCHOOL/ COLLEGE DROP OUTS TO RETURN BACK TO THEIR STUDIES WHILE WORKING WITH ME. The love and affection what I am getting now from those co workers is the real wealth for me. We can not compare also.

My humble request “friends please do not discourage any one; every one is having their own strength. In life ups and downs are common, we have to face.”

hi kr,
i am a rdiologist practicing in bombay since 17yrs
i am redaing these posts sinc e 2 months sinc e i will be moving to canada in 2-3 months on pr visa.
as a doctor i will not be able to pracitice i canada but the decision was taken for my two children 18yrs and 14yrs.
I wonder that people in this forum give lot of negative remarks but then why do they stay back in canada and not return to india.
i will be coming with a positive outlook and see what happens because with grown up children one knows how difficult it is to get admissions in colleges in bombay and other day to day problems faced here.at least education and future of the children would be bright.
