Hi,
As my current passport is expiring in August 2006, I have applied for a new one at the Indian Consulate (Toronto). I requested them to post mail it to me in Montreal and have given a self-addressed and pre-paid envelope (as officially allowed).
I just wanted to know, if you have any idea of the wait time till I receive it in my post mail. The website says 10 odd days but I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now.
Any experince you have and could share in this matter, will give a better idea.
There is no way to contact them - emails are not replied to and phone calls are not answered.
Thank-you.

Typically it is 10 working days from the time they have received and started processing the application. That itself is 2 weeks. Plus the postal transit time both ways. So 3 weeks might not be unusual.
Did you send the application via some trackable mail? Ex: registered mail with delivery confirmation. If you did, use the tracking number in Canada post website to see if they have received your mail. That would be a good start to begin verifying where your apps might be right now.

I had contacted Indian consulate in vancouver for passport renewal and surprisingly got very prompt response. I had sent an e-mail and next day got reply and then had another e-mail & got reply next day again. Even in vancouver consultate, they have particuar time (1 - 2 hours) that anybody can call & talk to a person for any queries (surprisingly this service also worked for me).
Probably I had never expected such good service from an indian embassy/consulate. But good job by vancouver consulate.

What I think is unprofessional is that no one replies to the emails - email addresses that have been put up at the website to facilitate the whole thing in the first place. Sigh - I guess I was expecting a tad bit too much.
Your reply is appreciated.
