Canada sends its plane and its chartered cruise ships to rescue Canadians, US of A makes its citizens to sign promisory notes that they will pay $5000 per each person before boarding them on their ships. The British rescues its own citizens on their warships.
But India......
is rescueing its own people along with the Nepalese(they send their Maoists into India to train the Naxalites and also help the terrorist to have an easy access to India), the Bangladeshis(who send their people into India and who act as safe haven for terrorist{including the recent bomb blasts}), Sri Lankans(you know what they are upto) and India is willing to rescue people of other nations if requests from their countries come through.
The Indian warships were one of the firsts to reach Lebanon !.
I still remember a thread in this very one CD, where a similar discussion was done on wartime rescue and it was discussed who will rescue you if you have a dual citizenship of Canadian and India. The thread ended again with India bashing were it was said the Canadians will be first to reach and save, while India will sit quiet.
This whole Lebanese issue has opened a Pandoras Box on the Dual Citizenship issue and from the talk radios and the opinions expressed in there the country stands divided.
It is coming out clear that if you are a Canadian citizen and living in Canada you are entitled for rescue, but if you are away and still filing your taxes, but not utilizing your health or other subsidies you are not entitled for the rescue.
A white Canadian is more equal than a brown or different skinned Canadian ?.

India normally does. This is probably the first in a thousand cases where they should have intervened. If you ever find yourself in a situation like the one in Lebanon, make sure you head straight for the Indian Embassy.

Oh take off the racist reading glasses. The rules would apply to the WHITE Irish Canadian as it would to the yellow Namibian Canadian. And at issue is our tax dollars. A good many of these lebanese canadians rescued were granted refugee status or PR status when Israel first occupied Lebanon. And like many exiled peoples they went back!! So now we save them AGAIN! And what's to say they will not go back again! And again!
This discussion is moot however, the supreme court would never allow "classes" of citizens in Canada. But there has to be a grading system of who is extracted first. Tax-paying Canadians of any stripe are first to get out. Tax-paying Dual citizens are next. Then the Non-paying Canadians or Duals follow. Finally, humanitrian extractions.

This isn't going to change anything. Indians will still keep bashing India and hailing Canada. As long as Indians "look upto" the western people, things will keep going down the "india is useless West is great" line of arguement. The tragedy of India is that it's own citizens are not proud of it and jump at the first chance to critize it but go quiet when the country deserves praise for anything.

Its not as simple as that. Many of the lebanses took their canadian citizenship and went back to Lebanon of their OWN choice. It's clear they had no intention to stay here but just wanted to sail thru the visa lines in various airports. Now if a canadian citizen (not necessarily a gora) living in Canada, working here, paying taxes etc goes on vacation to Lebanon and is denied boarding on a ship because a lebanese canadian is being given preferance because he/she has a 2 year old kid, then thats not being just towards the canadian citizen living and working here who has made Canada his home as opposed to using this country to get a passport. I would be pissed off for sure if something like that happened to me.
Also, most of the lebanese are blasting Canada for not helping them. How about saying two lines against the lebanese government that has just stood on the sides and seen their citizens getting murdered? The lebanese government has as much responsiblity towards it's lebanese canadian citizens as Canada has towards them.
