OK, so I've been doing this meal replacement diet for a week now and I've noticed that I have been getting headaches. It may be just a coincidence as I am inclined to suffer from migraine every now and then...but it's a little too coincidental for me. I had a quite a sharp pain on the one side of my head about a few days ago, it lasted for a couple of days but has now settled down to a slow, dull throbbing around the same area.
I did a little research. I don't think it's the actual diet shake that's giving me the migraine...it's the milk I mix it with. I found out that milk contains casein, a protein, which is known to cause migraines in some people. See, I don't usually drink so much milk (only in my coffee/tea) and since I'm not drinking my morning coffee either, it could also be withdrawal from caffeine.
These are just my observances, and just something for you to think about if you are thinking of trying the diet out. I'm not going to stop drinking the shake...I reckon the migraine will phase out eventually...besides my hubby said I looked sexier the other day

I get such headaches if I skip a meal, or even if my meal gets delayed by an hour. Nowadays I try to eat on time, and also have a meal bar, fruit or tea every few hours.
The last thing you need is a suggestion on dieting and "meal replacement" from someone named Jughead , but just a thought - headaches are probably signs from your body that something is not right. Maybe your body is not happy that you're not feeding it as you should?
“Food is the cornerstone of nutrition. If you do not eat the proper foods - lean proteins, starchy carbohydrates, and fibrous carbohydrates - nothing else matters. No supplement can ever provide you with all the benefits that food supplies. We were built to process foods - proteins, carbohydrates and fats - not powdered or liquid supplements alone. If you want to make the best possible progress with your physique, I suggest that you forget the hype surrounding all supplement diets or meal replacement programs and get back to basics. And that means food."

Hi PP,
I have a suggestion I did not know how you will take it; Actually you can make money while loosing your weight if you prepared to do hard jobs on week ends........................
This is a good suggestion. For people doing office work from say 9-5, you could do an additional 3-4 hours of work in the factory. The plus points are, you get to meet new friends, do work for money, do CPP contribution / EI benefits/RRSSP and in return lose weight/ tone up your muscles.
UPS is a good way to start. They do offer flexible timing work. It is usually 4 hours for 3-4 days a week.
I have worked in UPS for a day but had to give up since it was a loader job (Unloader job is much better). Besides there are tons of factories where you can do part time job. You get paid excess of $ 8 an hour.
In my case, i worked in a factory for 1 month (Full time) and then quit the job to take a 2 month vacation. In this period , i overate and came back to the same weight that i was before the factory job. So the key here is Moderation. Anything excessive is not good. 2 hours of factory work a day is good moderation.
Suggessions from Guru's about this welcome.

Success
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded. Bessie Stanley

My experience with diet. Supplements etc. may not be a long term solution. I also would like to ensure that I have all the food groups i.e. carb, protein, veg etc. Though I have reduced intake of carbs. I still get the minimum servings recommended by USDA / Canada Food guide.
But the key is to train your stomach to be happy with smaller portions. My second rule is donot eat if you are not hungry. I skip dinners if I am not hungry. I will only eat a mango for my dinner if I am not hungry. But eat something at breakfast, lunch dinner time otherwise you may have to deal with acidity. I eat everything including sweets once in a while. Diet drinks once in a while.
