Having worked in both USA and Canada in both private and govt., based on my experience, majority of the desi bosses tend to micromanage. Worst is that they are cozy with gora/goris, but tend to be rude and bossy with desi staff. Even if the gora/gori slack off at work, desi bosses look the other way. Majority of the desi bosses are scared of their white skinned staff and try to rule with an iron fist when to comes to desi staff. I had a desi boss in USA (from Madurai) and he was a real jerk. That was the only time I had a desi boss in my entire career. Here I know couple of desi managers, furtunately I dont work for them. I know their attitude, observed the way they talk to whites and desis.
I am not generalizing. Some desi bosses may be real good, but I dont know where they are.

IN THE PAST 34 YEARS IN CANADA MY FIRST BOSS WAS A GREEK AND HE ALWAYS SAT WITH ME FOR PROJECTS AND SAID THAT I WILL BE COACHED AND THAT IN TURN I HAD TO COACH SOMEONE ELS, WHENEVER THE OPPORTUNITY ROSE. AFTER A FEW MONTH THE GREEK FELLOW LEFT THE COMPANY AND WHEN I ASKED HIM WHY WASTE TIME TRAINING ANYONE IF YOU ARE LEAVING THE COMPANY ANYWAY? HIS REPLY STAYED WITH ME TO THIS DAY. HIS IDEA OF PERFORMANCE SUCCESS WAS TO DEVELOPE AS MANY GOOD PEOPLE AS YOU CAN FOR THE COMPANY YOU WORK FOR.
MY NEXT BOSS WAS DESI GREAT. A REAL \"GHANDIJI\" HE ALWAYS ASKED AFTER THE FAMILY WHEN GREETING. HE WAS FAIR TO ALL AND NEVER A FAVOUR TO ME BECAUSE I HAPPENED TO BE DESI. A VERY POPULAR BOSS TO ALL.
IN MANY YEARS OF SELF-EMPLOYMENT AFTER THAT, I HAVE HAD BAD LOYALTYS FOR ALL DESI AND NON DESIS, SO I CANNOT SAY THAT DESIS ARE HARD ON US.
A FEW DAYS BACK, I WAS GIVEN WRONG CHANGE AT A CONVENIENCE STORE
BY A KOREAN MAN. WHEN I GAVE HIM BACK HIS $10 HE INDICTED SOMETHING LIKE YOU \"INDIANS\" ARE GOOD PEOPLE.
SO THERE IS MY EXPERIENCE WITH BOSSES, CLIENTS AND OTHERS...

I may not agree with your opinions, but I will fight to death for you be able to air your views.
It looks like there has been a little misunderstanding my original post. The gist of the argument is that the majority of the Desi managers are observed to be quite technically superior in their field than their capacity to manage people (and subtle political situations too). I had worked with few real good desi managers some of 'em were neither educated in US nor worked there, but the point is they are really scarce...
The technical skills often outrun the traits of mgmt and I have nothing other than the environment (Say it is school or college) to complian. It is well understood that there are conflicting cases on both sides, but the discussion is around the general observation observed more noticeable.
Well, I beleive this is just the matter of time. Experience will eventually teach some one who'll realize that he/she is in limbo for very apparent reasons. There isn't any disgrace I feel to say "I'm learning the mgmt style I like to be managed " which is more prevalent here than where I had been (unfortunately, the fate pitches in often with its own bad luck blessing us with a cheeky managers).....
I've put the dots, I'm hopeful some one will connect'em.

If you say YES, well it is a pathetic situation because you guys know what is right, and want that to prevail, but will neither contribute nor assist in producing the 'right' way of managing.

Deming's approach to management and System of Profound Knowledge have produced quality results in Japan. When American companies realized this noticable shift, they invited him back to give the mantra to them too.
Gora ho ya Kala ... who cares!
I like My Boss to give Me Space.
Who Treats all his/her pupil Equally. No Set/Predetermined standard for individuals based on Skin Color.
I know, I have been Lucky so far. I have worked in India, Dubai & Toronto. Out of all these jobs that I have done, My worst experience so far was in India. Boss was Desi (Sur....prise!!!).

Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
As far my work experience in India, it was really short stint of less than a year and suprising fact is "My boss in India was extremely good, see the word extreme".
But you know it is seldom...
