Requirements for visitor visa for family members

What are the requirements for getting a visitor visa for family members in India?

Would appreciate if someone has checklist of required things including documents list. That would be helpful for anyone on this forum as well.

Is there only one consulate in Delhi for anyone to apply in India?

Looking forward to cooperation

Thanks Puttoo for the link. I had already looked at that.

What i was hoping for was to get first hand information from fellow CD's who have already gone through this process .
This would help all other CD's to have the details with list of documents and processes to follow and any tips/tricks to know off to get a visitor visa for their family members in India.

Hence my request to fellow CD's who have applied for visitor visa for their family members to pls share their experiences on this forum.

Hi Pramesh,

I just applied on my Mom's behalf for my uncle and aunt to come over to Canada for visiting purposes.

My lawyer advised having the following: Sponsor letter (notarized)
Also I attached a copy of my Mom's Canadian Citizenship, Bank Statement, Property Tax Assessment, T4 Slip and a copy of my wedding invitation for which is their reason for coming over. I don’t think there’s any harm in providing more supporting documentation.

If you have any other questions just give me a call for an immediate response. I might be out of town for the next few days.

People in india need to show the ties to india that they will be back to india after visiting Canada ...

This can be property documentation ... job ...
Bank accounts ...
I guess there should be enough bank balance ...

and may be other things ....

The problem is that they Reject Visa even after fulfiling all the Requirements. I applied for my Parents ... I made sure that All Papers are in place. Including Medical Insurance for Visitors. We were all ready - but to our horror they rejected it. They did not put in one perticular reason. But I think it is pretty generic letter which they distribute to everyone. On top of that I dont get chance to Challenge the Decision. I have to reapply - which does not guarantee Visa. If I reapply within a Year, it is bound to get rejected.

I was and I am still so pissed about it. Eventually I ended up applying for PR, which in turn will take at least 6 years to come through. I know, even after getting PR - they won't stay here. It will be Jail for them.

I can understand PR process, they dont want 'non-working' class age. Fair enough, but then why on earth you dont grant Visitor Visa? Specially to Parents.

Now this summer I am thinking of applying again. I am not sure if I'll get it though. One of my friends suggested to go through a Lawyer. That Lawyer Guarantees the Visa. No Visa ... No payment.

Now my Question, how is that possible? If system is So Transparent and Fair for everyone - how is it possible to get it through Lawyer but not directly? It Boils my Mind even more.

Vimal, did your Lawyer promise you anything or just a help in paper work?
