Looks like there are few takers for the RBC Desifest.

Anyway, I'll be there. Many tell me I stick out like a sore thumb in a Desi crowd. I am about 200 lbs, wear glasses, graying at the temples and look like a Bawa. Will be wearing a khaki green s/s shirt and black pants with drawstrings at the ankles and the most distinguishing feature, if I am not on a break, is that I will be pestering people by handing out M!M!M! flyers.

Any volunteers for handing out flyers?

Another good thing going on this weekend is the Carassauga event. Went yesterday to the Egypt, Cyprus, Filipino, India, Greek pavilions. Great fun!
The Filipino , India and Egypt pavs (nothing to do with pav-bhaji) were damn good. The stages for India and Egypt were cool. And the belly dancing at the Egypt pav- wow no sitting place in the hall- people were actually standing to watch. And then there were belly dancing classes- many South Asians at the pav. And the 'henna' kiosk was ladied by an Indian! Yeah real multi-culturalism. At the Indian pav they had a Japanese-Canadian put on a show with his 'diablo'. Cool to see people from other cultures than the pav is meant to be showcasing taking active part. Real mingling!

Also the tinikling at the Filipino pav was fab. It's the dance where two people on either side hold stix at ankle level and bang them together while the dancers jump in and out of the measured banging of the stix. Real skill. Must be hard on their ankles at the outset.- Damn cool!

Russell Peters won't be far from the truth, pretty soon there'll be ice-cubes, pastafarians etc...

Don't know how many of you made it to Yonge/Dundas square, but like the vibes were cool. Some good rock stuff by Falak and Zameer with Mojo rising from The Doors in there as well.

Deesha also was cool. Her music though cool did not elicit much public response and she actually commented that she did not know that Indians were so quiet.
Then came Bilz (2step bhangra) and the gals just stormed the stage and proved her wrong as the security and stage hands could not control the crowd. Like Bilz just blitzed! After that was Josh. By then security had got the public down and formed a barrier so they couldn't climb up on stage.
Which kinda goes to show that even the organizers didn't expect the public to throng the stage and that too Desi gals!
Too mind blowing.
Yeah girls of any community just wanna have fun, cool!
But there was a bunch of guys who went wild too throwing their companions in the air and catching them (Hey man, us guys ain't no less) But that was expected of guys. What the gals did nobody expected.
Guess the organisers haven't seen the Pune- Mumbai tract.Maybe they have but did not expect the TO crowd to be so energetic.

Real good happening.

The next cool Desi happening is the Mosaic in Mississauga.

Yeah, flood it and get yer Yayas out

Mde it there investpro but i guess it wasn't easy to spot people we didn't know :)

The show was good except i don't understand why belly dancing was involved? That's not indian and the look on the little children's faces was interesting considerng the belly dancers were 'all intheir face'.

Over all good show with a fews slow moments and I felt bad for zameer, they tried to get hte crowd going but alas... and then the announcer comes and says, no more of that rock stuff... crushed Zameer's mojo there :)

When and where is the Mossaic?
