Allright DT... point taken... and head humbly bowed if I came across as saying "shut up."
I was trying to say... woah... a restaurant is more than a website. If Sanjeev can say what he wants, I can reply with what I want, right?
No one's trying to shut anyone up... this is a free (thank god) forum.
As for a marketing campaign... hell, I think these forums can be used for anything, including generating support for cultural, political, religious or anything else that someone might find worthy of doing.
Would you only like me tell you guys of places I don't like from now on?
Cheers.
Hey PB,
I don't see how Your restaurant preferences can be judged as being "politically correct"
Anyways, I can't answer for SanjeevM (although he was simply commenting on the restaurant's website and not the establishment itself), but I am glad You told us about this restaurant as I certainly plan to visit it during my visit to Toronto this May
Watch out for my rave reviews
Thx
DT

Microsoft - Which end of the stick do you want today?
Pinky Blinky -- Thanks for the info on this restaurant. I had been looking for an Indian Bistro since I got here. I'll definitely check it out some time..though Missisauaga is a little far for me..as I'm in downto T.O.
Yes, the prices seems a tad bit high but they're in line with what one would expect at a bistro. I'm comparing this to a place in the US -- Cafe Spice -- where a simple lunch for 2 cost US$60. But the food is devilishly delicious and it's a different experience than the regular indian restaurants. I hope it's the same at TikkiTakka
For comparison pursposes I looked up www.cafespice.com and it's US$4.50 for veg samosas and US$5.50 for meat.
Infact, my dream is to open up an indian bistro one day...downton T.O or Montreal would seem good places..any opinions?
I've heard about this other place downtown Lava ( www.lavatoronto.com). Many places say it's South Asian but the chef's name sounds Vietnamese..so I'm not sure..anyone been there before? reviews will be greatly appreciated

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Hey I10,
Opinions? Of that I'm never short (and it often gets me in trouble... as you can see... aah well, better than blending into the background!)
I'm thinking T.O. could use some more places like TT. It would be unbelievably awesome to compete with the London and NY scenes here. Montreal is a wonderful place too... very respectful of edgy efforts. But since I live here my biased opionion says OPEN HERE!!!
You may want to take a look at what more is out there... try googling Indian Bistro, or Tikki Tikka, or Cafe Spice (or any other you know of... Vama in London for example)... there are a lot of chat sites out there that discuss these types of places both by chefs and the public. I believe one good site is gastronome.com (not sure on that one... but you can try)
I'm kind of a cafe-aholic so I always keep my ear to the ground for new ones. Lava is not on my radar yet. But KIE is (roadside Malaysian food on Queen West).
Good luck with the opening and hope you do it! I'll be one of the first in the door!
PB
I'm new to this site and new to Mississauga... I'll try to check this place some time soon. I like the way the photo is on the website. Kind of mysterious. Now I'm curious.
OK... so I went to Tikki Tikka last night with a friend of mine. We enjoyed it overall. We had the chaat papree (not the runny excuse I've found at some places)*, veg pakora which were awesome (very crispy and more veg than dough, which is the way we like them) and spring rolls which were just ok. Then we had the butter chicken which was the best I've ever had, and the lamb vindaloo which could have been hotter. They use a wood oven to bake their naan behind the bar and that was very interesting to watch. And the naan were excellent I thought. The staff was very nice and the service was prompt and friendly. The decor is what is worth mentioning though. We got there early, but as it got darker and all the candles were lit and the place got more and more beautiful we wished we had waited til dark to arrive. We didn't want to leave it was so relaxing. BUT be warned. The bill is not cheap. Two of us paid $60 having had beers, appetizers, and a full meal. It is a place I would go for special occasions for sure.
*ps. continuing with the horrible chaat papree stories... I once ordered it at Tandoori time, and I got a bowl of yogurt with a few drops of chutney, and 3, yes 3, hard stale papree floating on top. I couldn't even swallow it.
