1) When we land first time in Canada under family class immigration from India, do we enter at a specified port of entry or can we enter from any airport (Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver etc) that we feel convenient for us at the time of leaving India?
2) What docs do we need at the port of entry (air port) when we land first time under family class immigration.
3) What kind of questions do we get asked at the time of landing?

Hello ysi,
1) The POE : The choice of landing in Canada is left to you. For instance you may have a sponsor living in Montreal. You can decide to go there first. You might have a job in vancouver and you may decide to land in Vancouver instead. It is better to land in a location where you may be having moral and financial support. So choose according to the situation you are in. Then buy the tickets to these lcations. But try and land together as a family for initial convenience.
2)The documents that you will need, needless to say, A valid Passport, health and vaccination certificates which are current, your certificates for the employment, a valid driver's licence if you have one with picture will be preferred, a few dollars to get you by and financial status, if they need to see and probe further, an airline ticket with the route you travelled and sponsorship documents if you have been sponsored and supported and other material that you may feel that you will need immediately after landing.
This is just a guide line and you can add any other item that you want. Also a list of items that you are bringing in and 'the items that will follow you' 'at a later date'. They might also want to know how much money you will be bringing in later. (To follow) A Customs declaration form that you will be asked to fill ouot on board the flight or the vessel or at the border crossing.
3) They will ask for your local address and a phone number that you can be reached in Canada. They would like to know where you want your PR card is to be sent and if the address is the same as your previous answer. Are you bringing in any meat and fish products and plants and seeds for agricultural purposes and for farming. (OR ARE YOU MOVING TO A FARM?)
If you have a friendly and cheerful composure they may even ask if you had a good trip? who is accompanying you? Enough funds to support you on hand? If you are bringing in any skins or feathers of endangered species? Are you bringing in any fire arms or guns etc., But they will limit the questions to one or all of these and need not necessarily in any order. ONE in TEN gets the fifth degree and the Canadian Scrutiny. So be prepared but be casual.
The ones that have gone through recently should be the one to respond to this or an officer of the Immigration department who is trained to ask the routine questions.
Hope this helps.
Freddie.
