Hi,
I am planning to land at Toronto, in October end or Nov. first week 2008.
Could you please share any information that you might have regarding the following:
1. I understand that PR card processing will automatically start once you land and get through the port of immigration. Is that right?
2. After getting through the port of immigration, Is there any other formalities to be carried out, other than S I N card?
3. What is procedure for S I N card? Where to apply for this and how long does it take?
4. During my stay after first landing (for about 10 days, as I am planning to return back after 10 days) can I use my driving license issued at Kuwait or India?
5. Can I rent a car at the Toronto Airport after landing based on my PR visa?
6. What is required to open a bank account?
7. What is required to get a driving license?
I know the list is very long, but I appreciate any information on any topic listed above or any related information.
Thanks in advance.

Duplicate and the next one is amended.
Here is some information: It snows in November of some years. <<BRRR>> You have to read this CD and the threads and get all of the answers and then some. Before you land organize for a place to stay....
1) NO. You have to start the process with the submission of an application. Then wait thirty days at the least to get the PR Card.
2) NO. You don't need the SIN card, I understand that you are not staying here in Canada. YES, On your flight you declare the goods and the Dollars that you are bringing in.
3) If you have a job, then, the very next day. If not anywhere between thirty and sixty days. See link at the end of the letter for all of the applications.
4) To drive in Canada for the initial ninety days, you will need an International Driving Permit (License). Get one before arriving.
5) YES with the IDP and a credit card, and a Passport etc., you can book it from where ever you are coming from through the airline booking office or by yourself over the net. Choose a nice rental company and also take their insurance and the waiver too.
6)Your PR Card or the landing papers and THREE ID's with pictures in them., and a few dollars to deposit. But you will be cutting your own throat and I hate to see you loose a part of your foreign earned income go to Canadian Government as taxes. So DON'T DO IT.
7) Good Driving skills and a charming instructor(ress?) and a few bucks to pay for it. Also appointments are hard to come by in a short notice.
