Beat Aussies in Mumbai by 7 wickets. Without the aging trio. May be its time to retire them from one dayers also and then from tests.

I feel bad when some one says TRIO shd retire just because we won few SILLY games of 20-20.
See I am not against this new TEAM. But all seen the results in ODI when almost same team played
Just giving u example. Retirement age is say 60 plus. U have done so much for family .But if ur children comes & say please retire. u R not doing anything for us. THEN U WILL KNOW WHAT EXCATLY THAT MEANS
This TRIO has done enough for last 10-15 years for INDIA. But they are still the BEST when comes ODI & TEST
You shd appreciate them as they are allowing more young players to play in 20-20
If still people says that TRIO not required, then I will pray INDAI lose few SILLY matches of 20-20 to prove my point & prove the importance of TRIO
Regarding Sadagopan Ramesh, in the run up to the 1st test in the last away series in Australia, he was the most successful Indian batsman even eclipsing the famous trio in quite a few matches, as they floundered against the Aussie first class opening bowlers. But strangely he was not chosen to "partner" Sewag (or was it natural?). Akash Chopra was an apology for an opening batsman. All he did was to defend, defend and defend and sneak edges through slips and square off the wicket. Naturally he did not get even a single fifty, though he played in all the tests. Sewag did all the scoring. As he did not have suitable technique he was sorted out at the international level. Compare this with Ramesh scoring against the likes of Akram, Younus and Aktar in his first series. He should have been the natural choice to partnerSewag. Even during the "selection" match against New Zealand I think, when both Akash Chopra and Ramesh scored centuries and got selected for the Aussie tour, Ramesh scored on both sides and in front of the wicket, whereas Akash Chopra was scoring heavily in only point or square leg region. After that Aussie tour Ramesh never figured in the 15 for no fault of his.
As dio has pointed out, Ramesh "attitude problem" may be because he hails from a middle class orthodox brahmin family background, who only knows the game. These days cricketers must need to "socialise" with the tinsel world and probably pull strings through underworld and politicians. It is this "attitude problem" that must have cost him his place.
Now there is another example in Badrinath. Though he was selected for the last 2 one dayers, he could not figure in the 11 though the series had already been decided. Really could not understand the logic of taking Dinesh Kartik again as he had already been dropped for being out of form. Only reason we can think of is that people at the top do not want more TN players knocking at the doors though the state has the best league systm in the country and had groomed many Indian players like Dravid, Kumble, S.S. Das to name a few. Even somebody like Robin Singh who was the best fielder and all rounder could get in only when he was 30, his only sin was to represent TN.
Regarding players from smaller centres, Kapil Dev got all his training in Chandigarh and represented his state and zone. Chandigarh is one of the important sports city in India. Though everyone talks of Sreesanth from Kerala who is fortunate, no one knows about one Ananthapadmanabhan who was one of the best spinners from S.Zone. He did not get the right breaks. Similarly, every year atleast in TN there is this farce of City (Chennai) Vs Districts where the former team thrashes the opponent, only because the disricts do not have that much practice or match experience.
Kiran More was very much in the selection panel before he became Chairman. He even surivived the changeover from Dalmia to Pawar.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
No one is questioning the trio's contribution to Indian cricket. Now there are emerging players who can do well. Uthappa, Raina, Badrinath, Yuvraj Singh, etc. After all, its the age that also matters. Look at the running between the wickets. Its slowing down for Dada and Dravid. That's understandable. Body can take only so much.
Regarding S. Ramesh, FYI, it was his arrogance that cost him the place. Note that John Wright was a no nonsense coach. Nothing to do with caste or class or city. After all, he is from Chennai which is a big city.
