60K in 2 years means it is probably a rental or fleet car and has been beaten to death. Avoid THIS model at all costs.
Accent and Corolla do not compare. Elantra and Corolla compare. Accent and Yaris compare.
If you are ok with long finacing period get a brand new Elantra GL (the payment will be <240$/month including taxes. With 7K down it will be in 155-160$ month range including taxes.
(You can negotiate from there)
Financing is at 0% for 84 months so you are not losing money.
The only downside to long financing is that you are upside for the first 3-4 years so if you want to sell you are in trouble. (15K owing in finance and a similar used car selling for 10K)
Upside means that you owe more money than what the car is worth. (remembers cars depreciate a lot in the first 3-4 years)

Live and Let Live
Since you have been shortlisting 2 vehicles, I think attaching poll could get you more opinions and prolly easy for folks to choose one (KBC has started anyway so why not use one of the lifeline )
Why you are thinking of 5 yrs down the line ( resale ) . Buy which one you like and enjoy the drive and when its comes to sale whatever you get is a bonus
For me Totota is the best bet instead of crappy korean machines .......

...........
You could have bought 2008 Accent in 2007 October, so it would be 3 years now. 60K in 3 years is average use.
Folks ,
Yes Chittesh is right ... The dealer told me that it was an ex rental vehicle ...... So its out of the race .. I will go by your say .
The reason why I wish to buy a well maintained used car and not a brand new is because I feel that a good used car is cheaper in terms of depreciation as compared to a new car ...
So for now Corolla is the way to go .... it is a great vehicle no doubt ... imagine a 1.8 l engine is more fuel efficient than a 1.6 ..... !!!
No there s no rust on the vehicle and it seems to be well maintained ....
I m glad I asked .... Thank you so very much in helping me getting to choose the Corolla . Should be purchasing in a day or two .

Fido.
Good luck! hope that you are aware of the fees that dealer charges in addition to the base price.
