whats wrong in saying sat sri akaal, this is not india where you guys are dominationg minorities.by forcing hindi everywhere. how much hindutva is created within last 1500 years worldwide? how many hindus knew about canada 15 years back?
Sikhs are the ones who came to canada from india first. they have their 3 generations here.
Whatever sikhs have done so far is the result.
Punjabi is the third largest spoken language in canada not hindi.
So dont try to even think that hindi or hinduism will be in canada. never never never.
Most of the hindus have learnt punjabi after coming to canada.
i am a clean shaved sikh(which you hindus think a hindu)NO.
Hindus can only rule india not anywhere else, they can only ring temple bells and dance in front of their gods and godess and claim that they r the best.
to be honest India is behind because of hindus and hindutwa mentality.
if its not enough? talk to me and i,ll tell you guys alot more.
Never take it personal, truth is truth.
There a lot of non Sikhs who never were Sikhs who go to Gurdwara.
Most old-timer Sindhis in Canada and also youngsters believe in Guru Nanak. The Guru Granth Sahib is there and is read from regularly at the Gur mandir in Miss.
Many Sindhi youngsters in Ulhasnagar , Ajmer, Gandhidam, Mumbai and other places in India believe in Guru Nanak and Guru Granth Sahib and go to Gurdwara
Just for information sake, I read Gurmukhi and I am not Sikh.
Many Sindhis keep the Guru when people expire and follow the requisite rites and rituals. Many also have the Guru in their homes.
And when they meet they don't say Sat Sri Kaal they say
Arey bhau khairo haal ahey?
If you are from HK you will say
Cha to %ain, Bhau?
Anyway just for info sake all this- not to create controversy nor to start a long winded argument.
There is a difference between "understanding" a language and "speaking" a language. Punjabi might be one of the top "spoken" langauge, but I geuss Hindi should rank way ahead of Punjabi in terms of "understanding".
I speak "Gujarati" but I speak "Hindi" with almost same level of comfort. The same is true for most Indians, esp. North Indians.

Sanjeevam---Nobody replied your questions. Anyway I appreciate your knowledge
When you tell anybody from pakistan that pakistan was born out of India--he does not like it and similarly no bangladeshi likes to be reminded that Bangladesh was born out of pakistan.
Similarly Sikhs do not like to hear that Sikhism was born out of Hinduism. They dont like to be called a pant. I think we shud avoid this and respect their feelings. SGPC also clarified few years back that it is an independent religion and has nothing to do with any religion. That is fine with us. No issues.
Sikhs in canada and India do what they think is good for them. India does what it thinks is good for India's security. We in canada shud think what is good for us in Canada. whether sikhs came 300 years back or hindus came ten years back to Canada, everybody enjoys the same status when he becomes a permanent resident. Whether langar is free in Gurdwara or it is charged in Hindu temples, that is upto the indivdual religions to decide. if one feels comfortable he shud go to temple or Gurdwara. It is all individual decision and cannot be imposed. The bottomline is we in canada as canadians respect all faiths and religions.
