Hi Today while going to work i met with an accident. well i stopped at the traffic light (red sign) and suddenly one chinese guy came and hit my car at the rear side. I was so shocked so i came out and he looked so depressed. He offered me cash to repair the car but the lady (whose car was on the other lane) who witnessed the accident called the cops immediately (I asked her not to do so, but she insists) considering my situation as I am 6 months pregnant.

I was very cool with the chinese guy, but he got mad when the other lady (witness) called the cops and he jump inside his car and hit my car again and again with his car and run away from there. Smoke was coming out from his car and also his number plate fell down, with the impact.

A ttc driver spotted the accident and stopped his car and give me assistance while the other lady guides the cops about the run away driver. Finally police catched him and we got to know he was running from one accident and he bang on my car and while running from me he bang to someone else car and now he is in custody. I do feel pity for him


The ambulance took me to the hospital and my baby is fine- The only thing worried me is my driving licence just got expired and the police officer noticed that but he did not give me a ticket as it was recently expired, so i have to get it renewned immediately

Now my question - Will my insurance company or his insurance company bother about my driving licence? I spoke with my insurance company they did not asked me about my driving licence but can anyone adivced me on this matter? Thanks a lot for the reply in advance.

Hi Guys thanks a lot for all the input regarding sight seeing in mumbai and my family had really a good moment in mumbai. But unfortunately for me I had gone through lots of up and down recently with the accident i just met.

I spoke with TD insurance, The adjuster adviced me that my car has gone for a total lost. My car was a mean of my bread earner, I used it to go to work, as I am pregnant and its hard to travel with 2 buses back and forth to work.

they told me the guy (who was at fault) in that accident doesnt have an insurance coverage on his car - Now they will not pay me a single dollar as my car was having only 3rd party coverage.

I do understand the guy is in Jail right now, as he did 3 offences on the same day. I dont know what to do now. Can anyone adviced what to do in this situation? I am so helpless without a car and can i sue the guy? Pls adviced

Very sorry to hear about your situation.
Yes. You can sue the guy! But lawyers come expensive and it could drag on for months. Since your driving license had expired, they may use this against you in court. If the Chinese guy caught had no money himself, he may declare himself bankrupt and spend the time in jail in lieu of the money. You can consult some good lawyer (traffic) for this.
In the mean time, I suggest that you pool up your resources/ take a low rate interest loan (some come with 2% int. for the first 6-9 month), get around $3000 and buy a good second hand car. You get decent ones for that money these days and try to start a new phase of life. I belive that you may work for only 2 more months (be4 delivery) and you have to decide if the investment is worth it. May be if you can give your start and end point and timing of your office, some one may car pool you for free.

HI Guys !
If officer has not issued her a ticket there is no way ( in my understanding ) that insurance company can really find out that DL has expired .
I recently had been in same scenario and at no point ( insurance guys ) ever asked me abt my DL ..All they wanted to know if I was given any ticket ..
If I was you I will renew my DL immediately and willl pursue the case with insurance company .. I dont think that they will suspect that you had an expired licence at the time of accident especially if you renew it ..
