Hello
I had a problem with my PC yesterday. The PC just shut down on its own without a warning. I tried starting it and the PC did boot but again shut down even before completing the boot. This happened a few times. I opened the side panel and saw a lot of dust on the processor fan and the heat sink. The fan and top part of the heat sink was jammed with dust. The problem hence was the heating of the CPU. I cleaned the fan and the heat sink after removing them from the PC and fitted them back. The PC is now running fine.
My question is when I took out the heat sink I saw a thin strip of chemical connecting the heat sink to the CPU. This has completely dried up and was flaky. I understand this is required for better heat transfer. So I do need to reapply this chemical or strip to ensure better performance. Where can I find this?
Thanks for your help.

My Pc was shutting down few seconds after i powered up. Founs out that the front panel power on switch was bad so it was pressed on permanently from inside as a result the PC would power on and then power off after a few seconds. Replaced that switch with another puch button switch and problem desappeared.
