Canadian Desi web site boasts of 38,000 members. Many of the members, being highly educated and perceptive, are “opinion makers” in the community.
It is my humble suggestion to the moderator to invite NDP, Liberal and Conservative party spokespersons to answer in clear and concise terms, issues raised by members ( Moderator can pick and choose issues). Where feasible, obtain firm, written commitment to deliver on promises they make.
If thought appropriate, I suggest two issues, to start with.
1. Open ALL public sector jobs to competition including those in Crown corporations where first screening should be strictly on technical competence. (something like UPSC in India)
Perhaps it may be common knowledge that public sector financed by tax payer money is single largest employer employing over 22% of jobs.
2. Recognition of professional qualifications.
Biggest problem that immigrant professionals face is lack of “Canadian Experience” requirement. Nobody is afraid of exams, but are disheartened by the fact that they will not get required experience. Many provincial and Federal agencies are capable of providing this experience but have no programs.
Let us see how they respond to these issues.
