Hi Fellow CD's,
We will be landing on the 3rd of Sep and have booked a place at Sunnynewcomer. Have a few questions, which someone who has stayed there could help us with:
1. Which is the closest Supermarket, Indian grocery near their place on 150 Leeward Glenway. Don Mills.
2. How to reach the CN tower from this place on public transport.
3. From where can we get the Metropass. Can we get it at the airport?
4. Can we get a mobile package (SIM) at the airport for a new connection.
Would appreciate some inputs on the above.
Regards
Closest Indian grocery store would be Iqbal's which is kind of Indian supermarket itself. also closeby is Food basics and East York Mall[where one has all the top banks, post office, doctor's office etc].
All in all, that area is really convenient.
Also easy access to TTC. One can take Bus 25 to pape subway or 100 to Broadview from where one can get in downtown to go anywhere including CN Tower.
Metropass can be purchased from couple of stores within the East York Mall as mentioned above or from any subway stations
The lady who runs Sunny Newcomer is very helpful and resourceful. she will guide you properly. She is Chinese and i stayed there for a week in 2004.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
From the TTC website -
You can buy a Metropass from the 24th day of the prior month until the fourth working day of the month for which the pass will be used (available until the 15th of the month at Davisville and Sherbourne stations).
Available at Collector Booths and Authorized Ticket Agents
It is highly unlikely that you will be able to sign-up for a cell fone connection at the airport.

Thanks for the information everybody. We appreciate all the responses. We arrived last night. It is great to be in a country, where you are welcomed and have rights. I mean, put it in perspective. we are coming from the Gulf....No rights. Absolutely none.
Everyone was really very helpful, and things went smoothly. Now we need to settle down and start building our lives in this beautiful country. I and my wife are advertising and IT professionals in the business for the past 12 years. I have been running an advertising and marketing company in Dubai for the last eight years, and have a programming and implementation back office in India. We will be starting a branch of the same company here as well, and slowly Toronto will become the Head Office. We will be starting small, by recruiting one or two sales people with good presentation skills and a basic idea of advertising, web marketing and back end office support projects. We are open to all kinds of ideas, tie ups and support. Our USP is good quality work, backed by 100% money back guarantee - no questions asked - on all our design work. Something not as yet tried in the advertising industry in a big way. I have always felt, customers want a guarantee for the money they spend on any product and service, so why not in advertising. So we are trying out the concept. As a company we are systematic, organized, very professional and highly committed. I hope we will be able to start and grow an efficient company in Canada, and contribute positively and productively to this society and community. I know the road is difficult, but the more difficult the road, better the chances of success. The less travelled it is, more the adventure. All you need to do is work smart, hard and have faith in yourself. Off course be planned, focused and never give up. Remember the best jobs are never advertised, they exist all the time. Because they are not jobs, they are opportunities. You need to first spot them and then grab them. For the best jobs you don’t give interviews, you take them. Lastly, it is not important where you are now, what is more important is where you will be one week, or a month or a year from now. Successfull people work for the future, with their feet firmly planted in the present.
Thanks once again to all the senior CD members like Garvo, Blue Lobster, Chandresh, Jake 3D and many others, who have been very supportive all the way right from my first posts way back on 2003, when I use to post under the alias Northwind. It is a great portal and we will always contribute to its success in whatever small ways we can, by sharing our knowledge and experiences.
