Thanks for valuable inputs.

Thing is that I have been into month end closing for almost 10 yrs and I'm looking for a change (bored of month end closing/accounting) and enter the field of audit/assurance.Does the audit/assurance field has opportunities and wouldn't CIA be good in that case(being audit specific certification and also Indian CAs are granted exemption in Part IV , so there are only 3 parts to pass !!!!!!!!!!).

Looking forward to ur inputs.

So, now you are more specific...

If you want to get into audit, then CIA should be preferred over CPA, as CPAs are Public accountants (i.e. auditors) in States, but in Canada they dont have any such right.. they are recognised more on tax/accounting side...

However dont forget CPA (though not good for audit in Canada) may give you some added advantage... like exemptions from major part of CGA/CA, if you ever decide to come back to your original field (accounting, monthend/yearend)...

I used Gleim Books and CD and supplemented with Wiley for Regulation paper.
Since I was not working I studied for 4 hrs a day and took one paper in a window..i did not join any classes for any paper...you may make up for the study hrs by studying more during weekends..
All the best..

Thanks pshhe. You might as well consider doing CIA.I think it should really help ur CV.Since u are already CA and CPA, I'm sure u would be able to easily pass CIA.

Just search for Internal audit jobs in Canada in Google .There seems to demand for CIA.Also salary seems to be quite good.

I did consider that option but finally was adviced by many (in Canada) that its just a certification and doing CGA or CA Canada is a better bet..I know its timeconsuming and lot of hard work again after doing all this but that is the answer I got...and I need a PR before i can do CGA or CA so just taking a break until then and will decide about it in future...let me know your decision..

Rajneesh, my husband is also a CA and CPA, he also used Gleim books and CD's. Since he was working he used to listen to audio CD's while driving to work and could spend only 2 hrs everyday, weekends it was more. He did 2 exams at one time (actually one has to sit in all four exams at a time but you could prepare for the best 2 and walk out of other 2 (after 1 hr of exam is over). He was done with his CPA in 1 year, 2 one time, another 2 after 6 months.

Hope this helps..................Jona
