Can sum1 plz provide me some advise who went thru private sale?
Thank you very much for any help.
One of the documents the seller is required to provide the seller is a copy of the UVIP - Used Vehicle Information Package which is available from any MTO office or Kiosk for $20.00. You need the VIN number of the vehicle to get that package. The package shows the latest owner of the vehicle and if any lien is pending. You will need the package anyways to transfer the title and if you dont have one, they will charge it to your account alongwith the GST receipt. So let the seller provide you one before the sale and take it with you to the MTO office for the transfer.
Good luck.

A vehicle of that vintage will have to pass a few good ACID tests.
1) Rust FREE test. Got to get that done before the owner can even sell it. (might pass)
2) It has to pass the SAFETY Test. Which means it has to have brakes, suspension, steering, wipers, electrical circuits, tires et all...
3) It has to PASS an Emission test.
Don't forget, you are the BUYER, the one who own it currently is the SELLER.
The seller has to provide the buyer with the UVIP.
Now the next question, may be redundant. Are you picking it up "AS IS"?, Here is one more. Is she paying you to take it off her hand or have you got to open your wallet? If it is the former, then give her a nice big hug and a squeeze. If it is the latter, price the vehicle first. Because, it is going to cost you well over a thousand bucks to get it moving for the FIRST year. And it will increase as you get to own it. You will not even get a part for it in a scrap yard. Just out of curiosity call a few of the scrap yards and see the reaction. It is ripe for Razor Blades.
Don't forget the Insurance cost too. That will eat your heart. It will be twice as much as the cost of he car!! (If you have a clean record ******)
Good Luck.
Freddie.

I don't know if all of the links will become links or open up. If they do you can see the actual results.
Some people maintain a car well and sitting a thousand miles from the actual location will not help decide with the purchase, one has to see and take a test drive and inspect. A safety check costs 35 bucks, and in this case it is well worth the investment, if he buys it or not. Atleast the current owner will know the exact condition of the vehicle.
NO parts are available for this vehicle and so they steal this type of car. See NICB Reports.
Currently USED Car Market has TANKED.
