Visiting US by Amtrak Train

Ya took that very train from TO to Penn stn NY..and never will again..too boring a ride..to time consuming..though they had a guide on board to explain the water channels that we passed by and that were once used for transportation or something like that..which was boring too so guess it went bonkers.

BeeBee and rest...here are some random thoughts from what i recollect

1) The immigration staff got on the train and checked our ppts etc..those with PR card were asked to follow them to thier office where they completed the immigration formalities like finger scan
If i recollect right, this is where we pay them the fee..pl. make sure you have the exact amount in cash (cant recollect if it had to be american)

2) If someone has a difficult case then the rest of the passengers are delayed coz the train wont leave until the immig officers decide in letting the traveller into the US or ask him / her to off board.

3) Parents travelling with children, please make sure you have the necessary letter from the other parent (if the child is travelling with a single parent)..We had this case when we were travelling and the mother along with the child and other family members were not allowed into Canada.

Please tell me when and where they check US visa details enroute to Newyork and when and where they check Canadian visa details enroute to Toronto.

Has any Canadian Citizen traveled via Amtrak to New York - USA, can anyone please share their experience regarding USA Immigration at border, I talked to couple of friends from CD but they have traveled to USA via train on PR, if any Canadian Citizen can please share their experience then it would be really appreciated, I am a Canadian Citizen and planning to go to USA for the first time via Amtrak during XMas break. Please advise ASAP.
