Friends,

This is me again, visiting CD after a long time!

We are relocating to Toronto and need to look for areas to buy our home. Few of the families (my husband's colleagues) have moved to Toronto to Oakville, but more of the people have chosen Whitby. They all are raving about it. I know about Oakville and have been there, the homes there are very expensive. How is Whitby in school range wise, commute to downtown Toronto? Is there a GO train from Whitby to Toronto? How long does it take on train, we are not looking into driving.

I tried googling this info but the range was for 1 hr. 42 minutes? Which is way absurd and far. Please help with any info you may have on Whitby and its living?

Thanks...................Jona

You could have simply googled GO from Whitby to Toronto Downtown and see this in less than half the time you posted 2 posts. The trip is less than 1 hour each way.

You can play with different GO schedules and times here:

Part of no-respone may be because very few of desis (if any) are actually living in Whitby.
You are considering far east, did you give a consideration to Burlington and surrounding area more on west side? Even Milton is ok, houses are still cheaper compared to Mississauga, okville even compared to Burlington.

No my dear....many of us are in Durham region and trust me you will love Durham region over Oakville. The Lake shore east GO line is fantastic. (has trains running until midnight) I would not be able to assist with the schools part as I have no kids. You might want to contact AJAXDESI from CD he is a very helpful person.

cheers

Thanks Goldeneye, I googled it but my mistake was from home to office, the google answer was 1 hr 42 minutes, with all bus, train, walk time included. I now googled from whitby station to union station which was 44 minutes. 44 minutes is reasonable and this is what I was looking for.

Thanks again..........Jona
