You have to make sure that your friend has all of the papers for re-entry and stamping. Your son has to have his Passport and so does the friend who is driving. They have to have the authorizing letter for him to take your son across the borders and return. They have to cross the border. While you are getting dropped off at the Immigration check point, stop and ask if they can just make a u turn and return. (I don't think so.} So cross over and return.
You have all of the materials ready as far as I can see. Give ALL of the Papers and the files to your friend who is crossing. You meet with them at the check point. Then return home.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
Well, Thanks to Freddie and Dimple and lots of my friends as well for giving all the insight and inputs on the descriptive help in my scenerio.
Let me put down the events, to guide anyone else seeking advice.
I hope there are others threads on how to apply and proceedures for dependents (children) within Canada, i am not going to stress on that.
We received Landing papers alongwith the Immigrant Visa stamps from the Buffalo Office on my childs passport. There are 2 scenerios in which we could have done landing within Canada:
1. In case if you arrive in Canada, with a Entry Stamp (on Visit, Student or Work Permit entry) on your passport validated your entry and current stay in the Canada (for students and work permit is 1 year) you can go to local immigration offices (by setting up the appointments) and get your official landing without crossing borders. http://www.cic.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK
2. In case, if you arrive in Canada without an Entry Stamp (true for most US citizens) than you have to go perform cross border activity in order to officially land (Which i had to do). I didnot want to cross the border, as i had no visa for US as well as my PR card was expired.
I did followings:
Wrote an Authority Letter to facilitate my child in US-Canada border crossing in the name of Canadian person, signed by both parents and got it notarized. Attached Identifications for both parents and birth certificates.
We went together to the Canadian Border at Lexington Bridge (If u donot want to cross border, make sure stop just before the Customs office, close to toll plaza), i waited there for almost 3 hours, the authorized person took child to US Border and took a U-turn and came back to Canadian side. (BTW u can take a u-turn just after Duty free shop, if traffic allows CBSA seems to not bothered by that).
We both went to CBSA immigration office with my child, He asked me lot of things about our stay, as well as the expired PR Card, i gave all the true answers and he stamped the passports, issued landing papers and Welcome Canada VIOLA.
I had all the bank statements showing the balances, etc but was never asked or quered. Be Cautious at the International Border, Be prepared for CBSA questions about your stay, make sure you park right before Customs Office.
Thanx again to everyone who helped me in this case.
A Job well done.
I am happy for you.
Freddie.
