Talk to a local adoption agency about the wait times. Last I heard after your paperwork is all processed there is a minimum 5 year waiting period.

International adoptions are a 3 step process beginning with the "Home Study" and approval by the provincial ministry. Then, one has to undergo the procedures laid out by the adoptee's country (including emigration) and finally need to get immigration for Canada. For China, the wait times are long. I also heard that there are BMI requirements (Body Mass Index). Apparently, heavy set people (if they exceed the BMI limits) cannot adopt !!

India has authorized agencies that you have to go through to complete the adoption process. Other than that, all other procedures remain the same. There are certain age and marital status requirements along with priorities to people of indian origin. The following link may help.

our canada is multi-cultural and i would be delighted to have a multi-cultural family without oppression in canada!
